Birthday Present | Missing Childhood

a dime united states of america

As I walk to a shop to buy,
A birthday present for my 8 year old boy..

I ask for the thing my wife had already selected,
I look at the toy cars, crayons, block buildings I once erected..

I open my wallet and I see debit cards, credit cards, and currency note,
As the gentleman hands me the package, I sensed
what it has got..

I suddenly miss that priceless dime I used to toss,
And exclaim 'batting', on the ground when it used fall..
